General Adult Psychiatry

Prof Craig graduated with honours in Psychology, from Bristol University. He subsequently trained in various types of psychotherapy (e.g. CAT, CBT). This background assists him in the day-to-day management of his patients and in the decision making required when referring to his colleagues for more intensive psychotherapy.

His second degree was in General Medicine and Surgery, which he studied at the University of London. Following this he completed specialist training in General Adult Psychiatry on the Maudsley training programme.

Since 1999 he has practiced at the Maudsley and Royal Bethlem Hospitals, where he is appointed as a Consultant within the National Services Directorate. This ‘tertiary’ referral service treats people with particularly complex mental health problems, usually following a referral from other psychiatrists around the UK.

Prof Craig is actively involved in teaching general psychiatry to medical students and specialist trainees at Kings College Medical School and the Maudsley Hospital. He is also an examiner for the Royal College of Psychiatrists (RCPsych).

Prof Craig accepts private referrals for all general psychiatric problems (e.g. mood and anxiety disorders, OCD, PTSD etc).

He consults from his rooms at 74 Harley Street & King Edward's VII hospital and has admitting privileges at the Nightingale Hospital, Marylebone.
